A Pump-Trap is used in place of a steam trap to drain condensate from process applications when steam pressure is insufficient to push condensate through the trap into the return line. This frequently occurs when temperature control valves modulate steam supply to heat exchangers, causing condensate backup, inconsistent heat transfer, and potential water hammer.
